Hubbell Lighting is announced as the first major corporate sponsor to join the project with a five year commitment and assigning nine Hubbell experts to help with the project light design and implementation

WSPA News 7 interviews Chairman and President Frank Ruby on January 2md as well as Ansel Sanders from the AJ Whittenberg School of Engineering about the educational aspect of the TMOTW-MWOT project and the potential curriculum the project can create with the school district. Also, Gordon Dill from the station announces Hubble Lighting as the first corporate sponsor.

First fund raising Phon-A-Thon takes place on January 16th and 23rd.

Central Railway Historical and Model Association held their annual Train Show in Easley, SC. The TMOTW-MWOT team of volunteers are at the show. They introduce new visitors to the project. Some visitors meet the projects mascot and sign up to be on the informational mailing list. The volunteer team grows by 20. The new members are architects, electricians, plumbers, model builders and general project helpers.

Greenville Journal mentions TMOTW-MWOT in article on 01/27/12 about Laurens Rd revitalization, in which the project will help jump start, the appeal of the corridor from Haywood Rd in Greenville to Butler Rd in Mauldin.

Volunteer Meeting 01/19/12 included 35 volunteers for the IT/DCC and Model Building committee meetings. Mike Jenson, Director of IT/DCC gave his committee an overview of the IT/DCC equipment and functionality that the MWOT will employ. Ed Krech, Director of Model Building reviewed the guidelines for the MWOT project and gave out new model kit assignments for the next 30 days.
