THE BIG MOVE!
The Miniature World of Trains BETA has been open almost a year now
with the display's
one year anniversary celebration on March 29th. The Christmas Model Train
completed its fourth year and has become a Greenville Tradition.
The Miniature World of Trains (MWOT)
venue is drawing visitors not only from the local area,
but visitors that are dedicated to coming to MWOT. They arrive from Atlanta,
Asheville and Columbia. There have been visitors from around the world including
but not limited to
Zimbabwe, South Africa, India, Pakistan, China, Japan, Israel, Australia,
New Zealand, Germany,
Austria, France, Belgium, Iceland and the United Kingdom.
The MWOT has been described by visitor
as "Awesome, Fantastic, Wonderful, Amazing, Beautiful,
Incredible, Impressive and Magnificent". The Fourth Annual Christmas Model Train
been described as the "One of the finest holiday displays in the country" by
Trains Magazine November 2014 and "The Pick Of The Season" by WYFF 4 (NBC)
While the MWOT project came into
existence back in 2009, we where not able to find a
location or enough funding to open until 2013. A lease that ends at the end of

News, radio on the South Carolina Radio Network, MWOT has gotten the word out!
And will continue to do so!

What does this all mean? The Miniature
World of Trains has a future. But, unfortunately,
the current location does not allow MWOT to expand for that future. The
location does not have dedicated parking and the city has closed a parking
since September 2014 that was not expected.
We knew that we would outgrow the current MWOT location if successful. We have
So, MWOT needs to move into a new venue, with parking!
We are currently working on several
location options to create the new Miniature World of Trains.
These locations will allow MWOT to continue to add new features and
sections over the
next 10 years or more, keeping the MWOT project fresh. The new location
will allow us to
expand the educational aspect of the MWOT project and will have parking
more visitors from around the world to find us and find a place to park without
This search will be completed in the next 30 days.
We want to start construction at the new
venue by May 1st with an opening of the new MWOT March 26th, 2015.
To get this done we need to receive a minimum of $500,000 is cash donations to
create the new, larger and expandable Miniature World of Trains.
